Navan teenager killed in Syria after joining rebels

first_imgA 16-YEAR-OLD boy, whose family moved from Libya to Co Meath in 2001, has been killed in Syria.Shamseddin Gaidan left Navan last summer, travelling to his native Libya for holidays. He failed to return, however.It is now believed that he chose instead to fight on the behalf of rebel forces in Syria.According to The Irish Times, Gaidan joined up with one of his cousins who is also believed to have been killed.A spokesperson from the Department of Foreign Affairs told that they had not been contacted as of yet in relation to the death.Late last year, Hudhaifa ElSayed was also killed in Syria, having also left Ireland to join the rebels.Read: Irish citizen who joined rebel forces killed in Syria >last_img
