Fifty firefighters tackle Edmonton Tower block blaze in North London

Fifty firefighters tackled a fire which broke out in a high-rise block of flats in north London on Friday.Emergency services were alerted when a sixth-floor flat caught fire in a 23-floor tower by the North Mall in Edmonton, a spokeswoman for the London Fire Brigade said.One man was led to safety through an internal staircase while about 50 residents left the building before crews arrived, a statement from LFB said.Ten fire engines attended the scene after nearly 50 calls were received about the blaze at 5.39pm.The cause of the fire is not known at this stage. #Edmonton Crews from @LondonFire dealing with a tower block fire across the road from the bus station Pic @_ViperUK_MP pic.twitter.com/AFO56bfW51— London 999 Feed (@999London) 20 July 2018 Fire in Edmonton pic.twitter.com/U9ULBInfPL— Nacho (@Jalalapeno) 20 July 2018 Tottenham, Chingford and Southgate fire stations are in attendance.London Fire Brigade later tweeted that the fire was under control.
