Pakistan Cricket Board parts ways with coach Mickey Arthur

first_imgPakistan Cricket Board has decided not to renew the contracts of head coach Mickey Arthur, bowling coach Azhar Mahmood, batting coach Grant Flower and trainer Grant Luden in a move to revamp the national coaching set-up.Pakistan were knocked out in the group stage of the 2019 World Cup. Sarfaraz Ahmed’s men finished fifth in the points table — at equal points (11) with New Zealand after the round-robin stage. However, the Black Caps qualified as the fourth team for the semifinals owing to better net run rate.Earlier it was reported that, Pakistan head coach Mickey Arthur had recommended to the PCB’s Cricket Committee that Sarfaraz Ahmed be sacked from captaincy as he himself sought two more years to deliver remarkable results.Arthur has been working as head coach with the Pakistan team since mid-2016. He has also applied for the position of head coach with the Sri Lankan Cricket Board.Under him, Pakistan’s biggest gain was winning the ICC Champions Trophy two years back.
