THE HOOPS REPORT: LENNON DELIGHTED WITH THREE POINTS AT TANNADICE

first_imgFROM NEIL DOHERTY AT TANNADICE: Celtic manager Neil Lennon has admitted he considered quitting his job when his side was 3-0 down last month at Kilmarnock. The Hoops came back to draw 3-3 in that game – and have been on a run since. So you can imagine how pleased Neil was to see his side extend their Scottish Premier League winning sequence to five matches today with a 1-0 win over Dundee United. “I’m thrilled with the three points, it keeps the run going,” he said. “Some of the football was decent but you’re always looking for better.“I was happy with the first half, I thought we were excellent.“Final third, second half we were poor and that was the difference between us winning the game more comfortably.”Gary Hooper struck a great goal in the 12th minute after a strong opening from the Hoops. The second half may have been like watching paint dry; but a win is a win and the gap behind Rangers is back down to four points – with Hearts the visitors to Parkhead next Saturday.“The early goal today gave us a huge lift,” said Lennon.“Going forward we were very good and we could have been a couple up. But you always need that second goal.“Second half we weren’t as productive in the final third as we could have been. I wanted a little more quality but we were running the ball too much and not moving it quickly enough.”In other news, Scott Brown is set to pledge his future to the club but rumours in Glasgow suggest Israeli playmaker Beram Kayal could be off to Liverpool in the January transfer window.
