PALMDALE – Sheriff’s homicide detectives have asked for the public’s help in finding the gunman who shot to death a 23-year-old man on the Antelope Valley Freeway, a sergeant said. The shooting occurred about 9:15 p.m. Friday while two cars were traveling south on the freeway near Avenue S, said Sgt. Diane Hecht of the sheriff’s headquarters bureau. An occupant in one of the vehicles fired at the other vehicle, striking a passenger in the upper torso, Hecht said. The victim’s name was withheld while authorities tried to locate his family. He was believed to be a Palmdale resident. Homicide detectives asked anyone who was traveling on the Antelope Valley Freeway near Avenue S who has information on the gunman’s vehicle or the suspects to call them at (323) 890-5500.
