MAGH ENE, BUNDORAN UNDER 14s LEAVE DEELE SHELL-SHOCKED

first_imgMagh Ene College from Bundoran got the better of Deele College todayMagh Ene College Bundoran travelled to Raphoe earlier today (FRI) to play the Deele College. On a cold morning with a strong cross field wind with the ball thrown in, Raphoe immediately went on the attack and with just two minutes played scored their first goal. This was soon followed up with a second, a third and on ten minutes, Raphoe had a fourth goal.Bundoran were playing poorly at this stage but had a few attacks of their own but thanks to Raphoe’s goalkeepers excellent goal keeping and also the excellent attacking efforts by their midfielder Zoe McGlynn, Bundoran just couldn’t seem to get a score on the board. It was not until the 15min when Bundoran’s midfielder Megan McGee had a strong run from midfield that opened up the Raphoe’s defence and scored Magh Ene’s first point. This was the start of Bundoran’s comeback. Soon after McGee’s point, Cliffoney’s Eimer Colrevy scored Magh ene’s first goal.Bundoran now were camped in Raphoe’s half of the field and bombarding their defence. Five minutes from half time and with all the pressure paying off Cliffoney’s Laura Oates refused to allow the Raphoe goalkeeper kick a ball out and caused the keeper to drop the ball. Laura kicked the loose ball into the top right hand corner of the net. Then on the brink of half time Oates got a another goal and with Kerri McGloin scoring from a free kick, this left Raphoe’s lead reduced to a single point. The second half was a complete reversal from the first half. Bundoran now took control and never looked like they were not going to win this game. The halftime talk seemed to have fixed all the short comings that were evident in the first half. The ball rarely was seen in the Raphoe forward line with Bundoran backs pushing up supporting their forwards. The Raphoe kickouts continually ended up in the hands of the Bundoran midfield or forwards. Toni Anne McGowan and Aisling McSharry scored two more goals and four more points from other players now left Bundoran ahead. Raphoe did get a late goal but never looked like having a rival.“Woman of the game” went to Lisa McLaughlin Drumcliff who marshalled the half back line and contributed to the build up of many of the Bundoran scores. The final score was 5-00 to 5-07 in Bundoran‘s favour. This was Bundoran’s first outing this year and they now look forward to playing Moville and Buncrana schools over the next two weeks. MAGH ENE, BUNDORAN UNDER 14s LEAVE DEELE SHELL-SHOCKED was last modified: March 8th, 2013 by StephenShare this:Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)Click to share on Reddit (Opens in new window)Click to share on Pocket (Opens in new window)Click to share on Telegram (Opens in new window)Click to share on WhatsApp (Opens in new window)Click to share on Skype (Opens in new window)Click to print (Opens in new window) Tags:bundorandeele collegeMagh Ene CollegeRaphoelast_img read more
