FORECASTERS ISSUE NEW SNOW WARNING FOR DONEGAL

first_imgFORECASTERS say snow will return to Donegal this week.BBC, RTE and online forecasters all say the county will be hit with the white stuff on Tuesday. And it may even linger into Wednesday as wintry conditions continue to bite into spring. Peter O’Donnell from Irish Weather Online said: “We have issued an alert for widespread hail or snow showers the next several days and a slight to moderate risk of heavy accumulations of snow in northern and central (inland) counties mid-week, not just on hills but at lower elevations.“Although it’s later in March than the previous event, this one has less dry air to overcome and an abundant supply of moisture. Counties north of a line from Galway to Dublin (and in particular inland parts of Ulster) could see some significant snow cover developing especially around Wednesday.”It will be cold overnight with a risk of ice on many roads on Monday morning. And it looks like the cold weather will continue through into next weekend – with even more snow possible.  FORECASTERS ISSUE NEW SNOW WARNING FOR DONEGAL was last modified: March 18th, 2013 by BrendaShare this:Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)Click to share on Reddit (Opens in new window)Click to share on Pocket (Opens in new window)Click to share on Telegram (Opens in new window)Click to share on WhatsApp (Opens in new window)Click to share on Skype (Opens in new window)Click to print (Opens in new window) Tags:donegal weatherFORECASTERS ISSUE NEW SNOW WARNING FOR DONEGALlast_img read more

PARENTS APPEAL FOR PUBLIC SUPPORT AS FEARS GROW OVER CLOSURE OF SPECIAL NEEDS PRE-SCHOOL

first_imgGOVERNMENT plans to force children at a special needs nursery into the mainstream system should be resisted to prevent the loss of services, a mother has urged.Gina Grant’s son Francis attends the Ballaghderg pre-school in Letterkenny. She is among a number of parents who will attend a meeting in the town this evening aimed at halting the plans by the HSE. The Donegal County Childcare Committee (DCCC) has organised a public meeting for at 7.30pm this evening at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Letterkenny.“The parents of severe-needs children need support, they need help,” said Ms Grant.“Once these services are gone, they’re gone forever and we can’t allow that to happen.”DCCC held a public consultation last month, asking parents and service providers for their opinion on supports and policies that would be needed if students with special needs were integrated into mainstream preschools. But after the parents of children with complex medical needs addressed the meeting, a number of parents and service providers said they believed the plan was unworkable.Gina Grant says many local politicians are backing their campaign.“I never thought I’d need help like this and I did. It could be someone else in the future and parents and people need to come out and support Ballaghderg,” she said. PARENTS APPEAL FOR PUBLIC SUPPORT AS FEARS GROW OVER CLOSURE OF SPECIAL NEEDS PRE-SCHOOL was last modified: June 10th, 2013 by BrendaShare this:Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)Click to share on Reddit (Opens in new window)Click to share on Pocket (Opens in new window)Click to share on Telegram (Opens in new window)Click to share on WhatsApp (Opens in new window)Click to share on Skype (Opens in new window)Click to print (Opens in new window) Tags:PARENTS APPEAL FOR PUBLIC SUPPORT AS FEARS GROW OVER CLOSURE OF SPECIAL NEEDS PRE-SCHOOLlast_img read more
