Samsung Galaxy Note II coming to all US carriers in midNovember

first_imgIf you sometimes look at your phone and just wish it was monstrously gigantic, Samsung has just the thing for you. After an international debut, the Galaxy Note II is finally official for the top five US carriers. The Note Android phones have proven hugely popular with a wide range of users, so maybe Steve Jobs was wrong about no one wanting a stylus. The Galaxy Note II has a slightly larger screen than last year’s model, a 5.5-inch Super AMOLED HD panel at 1280 x 720. The phone has almost no bezel to speak of, but there is space for storage of the S Pen. The S Pen is an inductive stylus using Wacom technology to offer 1024 levels of pressure detection.Inside, the Note II will be running on a quad-core Samsung Exynos processor clocked to 1.6GHz. The device will support LTE on all carriers currently running on the 4G standard. This is of note because previous Samsung LTE devices have relied on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon chips. There will also be 16GB of storage along with a microSD card slot.On the software side, The Note II will come with Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean, which is the most current version of the platform. That’s definitely nice to see, however you will also have the TouchWiz UI layer, which many are not fond of.Exact release dates aren’t available — mid-November is as specific as anyone is getting. The device will be available with few carrier customizations on AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile, Sprint, and US Cellular. US Cellular is the only carrier that has announced pricing at $299 on-contract. I’d expect the other carriers to follow suit.via VentureBeatlast_img read more
