‘Project Resistance’ Trailer Shows New Multiplayer ‘Resident Evil’

first_imgStay on target Update: Here’s the first trailer for Project Resistance, now confirmed to be a multiplayer team-based Resident Evil game. We see the survivors take on all sorts of zombies before facing down what appears to be Mr. X pulling the strings. But Capcom promises even more details at the Tokyo Games Show this week.Like a zombie, Capcom’s Resident Evil series refuses to die. Unlike a zombie, that’s a good thing. The seminal survival horror series has gifted us some of the greatest games of all time like the original Resident Evil, Resident Evil 4, and this year’s Resident Evil 2 remake. The franchise can’t just rest on its undead laurels though. It has to look forward into the terrifying future. And soon we’ll have a better idea what the future of Resident Evil looks like.Capcom recently put up a website teasing something called “Project Resistance.” If the highlighted “RE” in “Resistance” doesn’t give it away, this has got to be some new Resident Evil game. The spooky found footage look of the website also recalls the franchise’s most recent rebirth in Resident Evil 7.So Project Resistance is a Resident Evil game, but what kind of Resident Evil game? Resident Evil 8 and Resident Evil 3 remake seem like obvious choices. But actually we’re thinking this is some kind of multiplayer thing. Leaked trailer images (discovered by Reddit user 5eye-samurai) show four somewhat generic looking survivors, perfect for co-op horror.Someone found tiny Project Resistance thumbnails from the YouTube linkhttps://t.co/Wxczi0iKslDefinitely looks like a 4-player coop multiplayer game to me pic.twitter.com/Ao40th9WLY— Nibel (@Nibellion) August 29, 2019Also, earlier this month Capcom announced they would be testing a new Resident Evil game in Los Angeles and New York later in September. Online multiplayer games need testing in ways single-player games do not. And the series has a history with this kind of format going all the way back to Resident Evil Outbreak. We just hope it’s better than Umbrella Corps.Whatever Project Resistance is we’ll find out in just a few days. The full trailer drops on September 9 and Capcom will show off the game at Tokyo Games Show from September 12-15.
