Dixie State Football Wins Sixth Straight Game With Win At Western Colorado

first_img Brad James FacebookTwitterLinkedInEmailGUNNISON, Colo.-Kody Wilstead completed 19 of 35 passes for 302 yards, two touchdowns and an interception as the Dixie State Trailblazers won their sixth straight game with a 28-20 win over the Western Colorado Mountaineers at the Mountaineer Bowl in Rocky Mountian Athletic Conference football action Saturday.Wilstead threw scoring strikes of 16 yards to Rickie Johnson and 75  yards to Kasey Allison for the 6-1 (5-1 in RMAC play) Trailblazers.Andrew Kanely-Robles added a pair of scoring runs of 2 yards apiece for the Trailblazers, who amassed 408 yards of offense in the win.Defensively, star defensive lineman Dylan Hendrickson had 2.5 sacks and NFL prospect, defensive back Aaron Simpson, added his fifth intercetption of the season for the Trailblazers.In defeat, the Mountaineers were paced by quarterback Connor Desch (23-47, 190 yards, TD, 2 INT’s), tailback Ty Leyba (22 touches, 82 scrimmage yards, rush TD) and receiver Kai Emmsley (4 rec, 58 yards, 2 TD’s).Dixie State returns to Trailblazers Stadium October 26 for a 1:00 pm kickoff against Chadron State as the surging Trailblazers celebrate Homecoming.
