first_img Brad James FacebookTwitterLinkedInEmailOGDEN, Utah-Saturday, the Weber State Wildcats’ football squad, having slipped to #13 in the national polls after last week’s loss at Northern Arizona, return to Stewart Stadium to host Eastern Washington for Homecoming. The Eagles, who are 5-1 on the season and 3-0 in Big Sky Conference play, are currently the third-ranked team in the nation in the coaches poll and fourth in the FCS STATS poll.Prior to last season’s 28-20 win over Eastern Washington at Cheney, Wash. last season, the Wildcats had lost five straight in the series. This series dates back to 1969 and sees the Eagles with a 19-15 overall lead. This is the Eagles’ first visit to Ogden since 2012, while at home, the Wildcats have an all-time 8-7 lead in the series. The Wildcats are blessed by the talents of return man/receiver Rashid Shaheed who leads the nation in yards per kickoff return at 43.4.The Eagles are led by star tailback Sam McPherson, who is fifth in the FCS at yards per carry (8.81) and rushing yards (661).Eastern Washington receiver Nsimba Webster is sixth nationally in receiving yards (649) and 15th in receiving yards per game (103.2) so the Eagles come into this one with plenty of weapons. This is a 4:00 pm kickoff and will be broadcast on the ELEVEN Sports Network, as well as Pluto TV and watchbigsky.com.
